Outlook meeting issues with accepting or declining

User cannot accept or decline a meeting request? the message that appears with in the meeting is as follows: "This meeting request was updated after this message was sent. You should open a later update or open the item on the calendar."

Environment: O365, Outlook 2016 Version 1708 (Build 8431.2153 Click-to-Run)

Thanks, I have scheduled a meeting with the user to confirm it is as simple as that.  I wouldn't be surprised  based on my previous experience, thanks for the input and I will update on Thursday.

That's probably not a meeting request, but update. As the message says, the user should look for the original item in his mailbox or the Calendar folder.
