Exchange 2010 to handle 2 domains at once

Hi All

I am currently in co-existence (exchange 2003 and exchange 2010). i have 2 domains with separate IP addresses. xyz.com is on 1.2.3.4 and zzz.com is on 1.2.3.5.

I want to get rid of exchange 2003 but before this is done i need to solve the issues

all my mailboxes, public folders and OAB are on exchange 2010. xyz.com is working well. zzz.com is having issues. I wanted to test by shutting down the exchange 2003, which i did and i found out the zzz.com stops working when exchange 2003 is down. dns settings point to old exchange 2003. what are some of the things i have to change so that i can get zzz.com to work on exchange 2010. outgoing emails on zzz.com is working fine. It is only incoming emails that are not working. i am using barracuda firewall and spam filter.

Looking forward for feedback. Thanking in advance

In addition to @Timgreen7077 action plan, make sure zzz.com is configured in Exchange 2010 as Authoritative type under Accepted domains list.

Hi All

Confirming that barracuda is pointing to 2010 server with the internal ip, i have just changed the dns as well but it didn't work. That domain is authoritative

Does your 2010 have all server roles or do you have mailbox roles on a separate server. if that is the case make sure the Barracuda is pointing to the CAS IPs.
i only have a single exchange 2010 server

use https://mxtoolbox.com to test for zzz.com
  1. check for MX Record
  2. Run for SMTP Test

If the emails are not getting delivered, are they bouncing back?

Try message tracking from Barracuda for those emails addressed to zzz.com domain to check where it is delivering the emails?
i had to change the IP address under domain Manager in barracuda spam filter. This resolved the issue
thanks
