Missing Azure AD Connect groups

When attempting to upgrade  Azure AD Connect message "Group with name ADSyncadmins was not found in the Machine Context" is displayed.

This blog says just go create the necessaryy AD groups.

But why aren't they already there?

I'm upgrading from existing version: 1.1.484.0 to the new Version 1.1.654.0.

Version 1.1.4 requires these groups also - by the looks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you are asking a hard question. there can be some reason like
1. some one delete it
2. you use a custom installation and specify a AD group instead a local group.

Anyway, I would say you have a good way to move forward. so i won't bother to ask why.
Even Microsoft Premier support don't provide root-cause analysis. they are break-fix type.

IF you have previous installation log, maybe you can pull out and look but those would not be helpful.
