Server 2016 - RDS - Quick Deployment - Licensing server

Server 2016 - I have a standard Quick Deployment of RDS.  I inherited this and there is no license server.  At first, I thought I'd just spin up a server, add the license server to it and point my deployment to the new license server.

That's not working.

I "think" that when you do a quick deployment, everything must reside on one server and I'm looking for someone to confirm that.

Can you add a licensing server to a quick deployment or must it all reside on one server?

Thanks

Just to clarify, an RDS deployment is an RDS deployment is an RDS deployment. Once deployed, there is no distinction between a quick vs a standard deployment.  The *only* difference is how the wizard deploys the initial roles, and after the wizard is done, there are no locks or specific "special" things written that block you from making changes.

You can put the licensing server anywhere.

Fair enough.  So, I spun up a new server and from the Quick Deployment I tried to add the roles to that server and I could not see it - I could not see the license server I spun up.

I tried several options for adding it to the deployment, but no luck.

Can you point me in that direction?
