source files can't be found when installing .net 3.5 feature

I am trying to install the .net 3.5 feature on a windows 2k12r2 server but, I keep getting an error that the source files can't be found. Based on google searches I have tried pointing the install to thew sources\sxs folder on the install media, I verified that updates kb2966827, kb2966828 and kb2769166 aren't installed. I've also tried running the PS command
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /all /Source:d:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess but, that didn't work either. I have also tried to run the fix for kb3005628 but, that also didn't work. I would greatly appreciate any help that can be provided so I can get .net 3.5 installed

I do see .net 3.5 listed and I can check it. For some reason the CD I built the server from does not have the sources\sxs directory. I've tried pointing the server to a different location for the files but, it won't install from there. Does this mean I have to rebuild the server with a different CD?

Any CD with the correct version of th OS should work.  I am prety sure you can download it too.

(Yes you can) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21

give that a shot.

You do not need to rebuild the server, just get a proper disk to install .NET from

After trying everything possible I rebuilt the server and was able to install .net 3.5. Thanks all for the suggestions.

Just a thought, but do you have all the "hide operating system files" type things turned off?  I am not sure if the sources\sxs directories woud be hidden but it is worth a look.  Also, let me know if you have trouble with the link or installing from it. I am not that guy who posts a hyperlink and leaves you hanging. :-)

Another thought, you said CD.  I don't think win2012 fits on a CD.  Is there perhaps a second CD?  I used to see that with 2008.

can you tell us what directories you DO see on your media?

None of the suggestions resolved the issue. I resolved the issue by rebuilding the server.
