CCNA LAN Question

Just a fundamental LAN network questions as I am studying CCNA course

Computer A and B both are connected to a normal L2 switch and turned on. there is no DNS server configured (it shouldn't matter as it is pure L2 connection?)
what are the setups computer A pinging computer B by the name at the very first time? is the switch going to broadcast computerB's mac address? if yes, how would computer A know what is the computer B's mac?
just trying to understand the principle of LAN communication.
It would be great if I can get some articles to read.

Thanks
