I am in the process of moving contacts and calendar from Outlook 2013 to a pst file. The accounts are IMAP, and there is no exchange server involved. The accounts are provided by the ISP.
My logic is from research on the web and I am able to do the following:
File-> Account Settings-> Account Settings…
Select the Data Files tab.
Select to create an Outlook data file (.pst).
Set it as the default.
Confirm the warning dialog.
Move the items of the non-mail folders to their counterparts in the pst-file.
This is where I run into a challenge. If I export the contacts from the .ost file to a .pst file, and then attempt to import them back into the newly created .pst file, they do not appear in contacts [or anywhere under the people tab]. If I go back to the mail tab, and minimize the email accounts, the newly created pst file is there and the contacts show up at that point, but there is no option to have them show up in the address book heading . How can I get these contacts to imported into the contacts that can be accessed when trying to send an email.
If there are only a few contacts in the "this computer only" area, I have been able to export them as ccsv, and when I import them, they show up as normal. Larger groups [250 -300] exported to csv have either not imported indicating the csv is damaged, or import incorrectly with % signs and double names making the item not effective as an address book.
