Icons from Desktop disappear until user logs off, then logs on.

We have some people who connect to our local domain which is run on SBS2011.
They all run win 7 Pro 64 bit.
They use redirected folders to connect their desktops, their "My Documents", and their Favorites.
A few of the users lose their desktop icons periodically.
The connection still seems to be in place to the server because their desktop background does not change when this happens and also, they do not get a warning message telling them anything.
This does not happen to everyone, but it does happen to some.
To restore the icons they have to log off and then log back on, or they reboot etc.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

First, you don't have to log off and on - click once on the desktop (so you're sure it's the "active window") then press F5.

Second, make sure you're not using crappy little switches.  Like cheap $20 5 port devices.  They can be problematic and if they go offline for a second, you can lose connection.  Could also be a bad port on the network switch that a cheap switch plugs into.

Hopefully I'll be able to find what is causing the drop. Perhaps It is cabling. Maybe the punch-downs are working their way loose. Thanks again, B.
