user migration from WIN7 to WIN10

Hi Experts,

we are moving from WIN7 to WIN10 for 500 Users.
What is best way to migrate the WIN7 profile to a new WIN10 profile ?
I have seen the WIN7 user has a v2 folder and the WIN10 user has a v6 folder.

But in the past I had some problems with the profiles. The data was not migrated to the new profile.

What is the best practice ?

When we change a user from WIN7 to WIN10 the machine will be reinstalled with our deployment image by IVANTI LANDESK.

Microsoft has a tool for this - the user state migration tool (USMT)

Hi

You should definitely use USMT. We use USMT with EhlerTech's User Profile Central for the domain and for St.alone Work group PC's we use USMTGUI bby usmtgui.com.

It is more or less point and shoot and they even migrate Sticky Notes and Edge favorites :-)
