Unable to access email accounts with outlook 2007 to exchange 2013

Some of my users are unable to connect to the exchange 2013 with Outlook 2007.

1.  1st Error Message:
Outlook cannot logon.  Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name.  The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

2.  Created several new users in AD and linked the accounts to new mailboxes in exchange 2013.  Logged into one of the accounts as was still unable to access the outlook 2007.  Received the same message above ( 1st).

3.  I was able to pinged the server with exchange installed on it, which is my DC2.  Both with the IP and Fully qualified name.  I can also access the EAC & OWA with no problems.

4.  I went into the control panel on the VM and configured the email with the IP address of the exchange server and the mailbox name.  The name and IP resolved.  1st Error message went away.

5. 2nd Error Message:
Cannot open your default email folder. Microsoft Exchange is not available.  Either there are network problems or exchange is down for maintenance.

NETWORK SETUP:

Host Machine:
- Win 7

Virtual Machine:
- XP
- Outlook 2007

Gaurav,

thank you for the quick reply.  I can find out tomorrow for sure which SP is installed.  For now, lets assume that i have SP3 installed.  What other things would you recommend i do?

Additionally, i just read the MS article you posted.  I am not seeing any of those issues that the SP3 is to fix.

Hi Todd,

Im the new sys admin.   The network has been dormant for 1.5 years to my understanding with no administration.  My assumption is that it all worked when installed originally.  Nothing new has been installed to my knowledge, the systems are starting to get more usage as they are testing everything before bringing online fully.

Thank you for the two articles, I will definetly try the solutions there and follow-up with the SP pack for outlook 2007 tommrrow.

Best Regards,

Lawrence
