Max out Resolution on my iPhone 7 camera

Getting the most out of my iPhone 7 camera

I go on a site seeing trip and expect to take photos from big open spaces, with distant famous buildings. I no longer have a camera that zooms with a great lens.

But I have an iPhone 7

How do I max out the resolution of the camera? I assume the pics will be vary large, but could prove very interesting when I zoom in with my image editor on my Mac.

Suggestions?

Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. I use an iPhone 7 and had the same question some time back so did some extensive research into it. There's not a lot you can do with regards to resolution settings on the iPhone's included camera app.

If you go to Settings > Camera on your iPhone, you'll see the only options there are for Recording Video, Grid, Scan QR Codes and Formats. No resolution adjustments.

I ended up purchasing the Top Camera 2 app and found it quite good. It definitely produced better photos than the native app. Has some neat features like Night Mode, Slow Shutter, Time Lapse etc as well. Worth a look.

Hope that's helpful.
