Copy data (Contacts, Whatsapp threads, browsers bookmark, SMSes & apps) from Note2 to Note4

My old Galaxy Note 2 dropped & the screen goes blank : after resetting (& removing battery), occasionally,
it boots up (but with blank screen) & I can hear sound (or even phone calls to it: when I connect my Win 7
laptop to the Note2 with a USB cable, somehow driver did not install :
I'm looking for a microUSB to HDMI cable to view the Note2 screen

Recommend me a couple of freeware running on Win 7 that could copy out everything (all my
Whatsapp conversations, photos, Contacts, SMSes) and ideally the apps (I have AXS, ACRcalls,
various browsers and their bookmarks) out to a Note4 (I just bought this used Note4).

I'll need to retain the Android 6.x on this Note4 (ie don't copy over the Android 4.x from the
Note2) as some sites dont allow Android 4.x to connect to them anymore

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

i use WonderShare MobileGo, download trial from here
connect the Note2, backup, then connect the Note4 and restore.
Sync Droid is considered also a good option
Don't wanna burst your bubble, but there's a high probability the screen digitizer is also defective. It means, even if you get to see the screen, you CAN'T CONTROL it. Since you already use the microUSB for the HDMI connection, you can't use a USB mouse either. And since you can't see the storage on your PC (which would become available anyway AFTER unlocking the phone), the only options are to install a sync app on the phone (as described above), except without any control, you can't install anything.

After a few attempts, the Note2 was detected by my Win7 & t he "High USB voltage" issue is not there anymore.

Managed to use Win7 explorer to copy some folders over.

I just transferred over the SIM card to the Note4 & it prompted me to restore the Whatsapp backup (that
appeared to have been auto-backed up to Whatsapp on 24 Jan  but this means I lose about 21 days of
Whatsapp : still prefer to get back everything from that Note2.

Will using Droid2 & Wondershare move over everything (Contacts, SMS, Whatsapp, photos, Calendars/
Reminders) and especially apps over to Note4 ?   I don't need the Android OS to move over but will
some of the apps work (that was on Android 4.x) on the new Android 6.0.1 ?

it will move call log, contacts, sms, photos, videos, music ... nearly everything .
the issue with the apps, like whatsapp, viber and other social media, is that you have to back them up manually, or connect them with google drive. there is an option in wondershare to backup installed apps, but honestly dont know if it backup the chats inside whatsapp, i never used app backup,

will the restored apps work on newer android?

I just run into a hindrance with Seagate Mobile backup : it requires the phone to be installed
with the Seagate app first which I can't do as the phone's screen is now blank.

Do the tools you suggest require an app in the phone 1st?  I'm trying them next

Sam, with Wondershare, it says "Enable USB debugging 1st"  whether I'm initiating a backup
or transfer to another phone

So do I go into the Android phone's  "About Device" & tap 7 times on the "Build Version" ?
I could do that with my new working Note4 which now says "Developer mode turned on"
but with the note2, I can't do it as the screen is blank
@Sam Simon Nasser Do you know if either of your recommendations will transfer WhatsApp threads?

Last time I changed phones I could not find anything that would let me keep my WhatsApp and WeChat threads. I ended up reinstalling them and losing everything. Since then I've had WeChat die on me (my messages not received at the other end), forcing another reinstall.

So I'd appreciate anything that will let me keep my threads.

since enable usb debugging is not active, not of the programs will work, sorry!
inside whatsapp (but not in your case since the phone is dead), you can specify in settings chars - char backup and specify to backup whats app in google drive or dropbox.

@Sam  Thanks for that. Great that I can backup/restore WhatsApp on Google drive. And thanks to that I've discovered that WeChat lets you transfer chats between devices. Go to "Me" >Settings > Chat > Backup & Migration. I'd never have found it without your help.

Now I just have to wait until I get my next phone - but that'll hopefully be a while yet :-)
