# Slight Modification to existing Excel formula

I have the following formula in an Excel spreadsheet...

=IF(OR(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("A",H8)),ISNUMBER(SEARCH("T",H8)))*AND(J8>1),CEILING(SUM(C8-B8),"0:15"),)

I want to add the required condition that this formula only works if cell P8 contains the letter B

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi Bill,

The simplest way to do that is to wrap it in the following:

``````=IF(P8="B",YourExistingFormula,"What You Want To Show Otherwise")
``````

So, for example, if you want your formula to show 'Not B' if P8 does not equal 'B' then it would be:

``````=IF(P8="B",IF(OR(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("A",H8)),ISNUMBER(SEARCH("T",H8)))*AND(J8>1),CEILING(SUM(C8-B8),"0:15"),),"Not B")
``````

You could replace 'Not B' with "" (empty quotes) to show nothing, or 0 (zero) or whatever you like.

Hope that helps,

Alan.

That did the trick. The field is a HH:MM time field so I replaced Not B with 0:00.

Thanks for the help,

Bill
