I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi DoctorK,

First of all, kudos to you for using 2-Step verification on your Google account. Your account will be considerably more secure now and far less prone to being hacked or taken over by anyone. Hackers trying to break into accounts will usually just move to the next potential victim if they see 2-Step verification has been enabled on an account so you're very wise to do that.

As to how to use it, the process is very simple. Once Google 2-Step verification has been set up and enabled, you just open the Authenticator app on your phone and then enter the code when you are prompted for one when logging into your account. There are also some excellent instruction and tutorial pages you can view, as I've shown below.

  • To learn how to set up and use the Google authenticator, this page has an excellent tutorial with graphics that should be very easy to follow. Please feel free to post back and ask further questions if anything on that page is not clear.

  • To learn how to setup 2-Step verification on your Google account on an iPhone or iPad, please see this page.

  • To learn how to setup 2-Step verification on your Google account on an Android device, please see this page.

  • I hope that's helpful.

    Regards, Andrew
