Battery overcharging.

Can any app prevent overcharging that destroys battery.

I have seen apps that describe battery life but I am not sure if they prevent overcharging.

I would like an app that works in the background to prevent battery overcharging.

Hi rgb,

Have you seen and looked at this article at Gadget Hacks Android, which discusses the overcharging problem at length? It recommends this Battery Charging Limiting app.

Also, have you checked out the Apps available on Google play? Seems to be quite a selection available for that purpose.

Hope that's helpful.

Beyond the above, do not leave your phone plugged in. Use it to below 50% and then charge to full and unplug. That works over the long haul - I do this myself.

Good advice, but I can understand the Op wanting an app for this purpose. I (as I'm sure do many people) often forget to unplug my phone and sometimes even forget to take it with me when going out. An app for the purpose would be ideal for when that happens.

Leaving any phone or laptop computer plugged in "forever" will fry the battery.

Leaving it plugged in overnight once in a while will not hurt.

Also, yes, if an app works for you, that is fine as well

Sold your Samsung S6 and get a S8 or S9 as the feature of preventing overcharging is built-in.

Charging and stop charging is a system feature and no app can do what you want unless you rooted your phone. Besides, you will never find any app in Google Play Store which can intervene with the charging process as Google will not allow such apps to be published in Google Play Store.
