"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do not believe that there is a free way to play Blu-ray movies using open source software. The encryption database for Blu-ray movies have to be updated continuously but it is not free to get the update.

You need to install a paid software to do the magic.

Download the trial below first to see whether you can play the movies.

Try below link to download the KEYS DATABASE(KEYDB.cfg) and AACS DYNAMIC LIBRARY(libaacs.dll for Windows and follow the instructions to place those files into the correspond folder.

No

But I do not think you can play all Bluray discs using VLC player approach as the KEYS DATABASE(KEYDB.cfg) will not cover all Bluray discs published in the market.
