two node hyper-v cluster cannot connect to veeam

Hi,

i have a two node Hyper-V Cluster build.

now when i want to add the Hyper-V Cluster to my Veeam Backup server he always says that the specified ip does not match any resolved cluster ip addresses.

the hyper-v cluster and my veeam server are in the same lan but the veeam server is not connected to the ad of the cluster.

any idea's why this will not work? When i add the two nodes as standalone hyperv with there ip addresses to veeam then this works. only the cluster does not connect?!

Hi Rik Van Lier,
You should be add as cluster. Do you have separate network for cluster?
I have seen cases where issue occurs with different subnets for cluster and nodes.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/evaluation/backup/hyperv/en/setup_hosts.html

What is the error you get when you add cluster and start a backup?
Or You cant add Hyper-V cluster ?
Does the Cluster Name resolve to an IP Address in DNS ?

e.g. if you ping the Cluster Name from the Veeam Server does it respond, if you traceroute to the IP Address, does it resolve to a name ?
Hello Rik Van Lier,

Please try to enter the Hyper-V cluster to your veeam server, by address or by name.

If you can not enter the name by the IP or by name, please send us a printer with the errors indicated by the server.

Additionally, it also checks if the hyper-v cluster responds to ping by the ip address or by the name and executes an nslookup for both the ip and the name, to rule out a name resolution failure.

Currently your cluster how many hosts do you have connected?
It also tries to add a host to the veeam server to validate that it is satisfying.

Hello Rik Van Lier,

You can also try connecting directly to the server where you have installed the veeam backup solution, and from there try to add your Hyper-V cluster either by name or ip address.

We remain attentive to your comments. Regards..

that's the issue... no A Record for bdc-cluster.bdc.local

login to your DNS server (DC) and add an A Record for bdc-cluster.bdc.local against whatever IP Address it should be for your LAN

is that 192.168.1.4 ?

e.g. bdc-cluster.bdc.local 192.168.1.4

I assume your DNS are 1.2 and 1.3 ?
The Cluster is on the 10.1.1.x network.

DNS 10.1.1.2 and 3
Cluster 10.1.1.4
Domain: BDC.local

the VM lan is 192.168.1.x
DNS 192.168.1.72
Domain brusselsdc.local

the Veeam server is also on the VM lan 192.168.1.3
