Office 2016 activation?

I purchased 3 copies of Office Home & Business, to upgrade old users with 2003 & 2007 copies.
Why is it asking me to enter product key every time I launch one of the programs?
I have one account, mine, for managing my open licenses, etc., but don't want to stay signed in on some users computer.
I've activated it, so why is it acting this way & how do I stop it?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is this a subscription (5 licenses) or individual licenses?

For the former, you need to log in to active and stay signed in for the license management. If you sign out, you will have to sign in again.

For the latter, you should have received a Key or Keys and the activation should be one time.

Not a subscription, a boxed copy, with card inside with product key.

Once activated, it should stick without necessarily signing back on. You may need to contact Microsoft Licensing Support

Now that I think about it, I may have DL'd ISO from volume licensing center, could that be part of problem?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
If you did that, the download is not compatible (from the point of view of license) with the individual boxed product. Use that download or ISO file.

Going to office.com/setup, it's asking to create acct or sign in. I do not want to create an account, because we have a fair amount of turnover with some of these office people & I do not want to stay signed in with my company account.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Check with Microsoft Licensing Support about that because Microsoft Licensing is increasingly online.
gromackAuthor Commented:
Interesting. Installed via that site & now user@domain.local shows in upper right corner.
I can live with that.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
That sounds reasonable because you have use the correct ISO

Thanks, that did the trick!
