NFS3 Mount Error

Hi

Problem Mounting NFSV3 share from IBM Mainframe uss.
We are providing a NFSV3 share on a redhat linux. We want to mount the Share with nfs client on the IBM Mainframe USS and we are getting the following error
 Async mount proceeding for OURSHARE.MOUNT.POINT
 Asynchronous mount failed for OURSHARE.MOUNT.POINT
 mount error: 0000045E 6E030007
OURSHARE.MOUNT.POINT
ENETUNREACH: Network is unreachable

The root cause is NOT: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg1OA05806

There is no FW between the two systems.

Any help would be very appreciated

i would say there is a misconfigurations of the network settings (routing, ipaddresses, netmask...)
network unreachable hints at this.

Echo noci's comment
Check networking info ip netmask and see if there is a path check redhats's firewall rules
Traceroute from mainframe to redhat and back.

Hi,

I've seen an "ENETUNREACH: Network is unreachable" when one didn't configure an IPv6 address on the box but at the same time was attempting to mount an IPv6 address.

Cheers

Big Business Goals? Which KPIs Will Help You

The most successful MSPs rely on metrics – known as key performance indicators (KPIs) – for making informed decisions that help their businesses thrive, rather than just survive. This eBook provides an overview of the most important KPIs used by top MSPs.

Check the basics

1. I am assuming plain old ping works without a problem
2. Are both machines on the same subnet?
3. What does 'showmount -e NFS_SERVER_IP' say?

Hi all
Yes we checked all, the network is the same no FW etc. Seems the problem is more complicated. Seems that the IBM USS only implemented a minimal set of NFS functions. So we have to find out
1. which linux nfs server to use
2. how to configure it to work together with the ibm implementation

the error message is misleading it's not a network or connectivity issue is a incompatibility issue with the currently set up linux (redhat) nfs server and the IBM implementation.

Try older protocol versions. There might be a better match there.
