well creating group policies depends on your organization requirements.

Yes please check the while space and also check the event logs for the Database issue.

well checking white space is necessary but it actually is not the reason for failed status. database failure status could  be of any reason, for that depending on your enviornment, windows event log provides much sufficient information.
