Good Avenir-like Font for Phone and PC

Really like the Avenir font.  Tried to use it for a text-intensive website.  Didn't look to good.  Too light / feathery.

Is there an Avenir-like font that looks good on a Phone and on PC?  Avenir looked NICE on a big screen, but was just not "there" enough on the phone.

Thanks!

The problem here is that "looks good" is a very subjective term. For example, I think the Open Sans font that is used on the bulk of EE looks and scales great, both on PC and Phones, but I'll bet for every person that agrees with me, there will be a dozen more that wont. :)

I'd suggest you browse the considerable selection of available fonts at Google Fonts as well as look at the entire Linotype selection at the Myfonts site to see what else is available. I seriously doubt anyone will be able to suggest a font that they think looks similar, and that you will automatically agree with. Why? Well, why not just use the free Open Sans font? Looks great on large and small screens alike and is definitely "there" on phones!

See what I mean? :)

That said, you may also benefit from a little program I frequently use called Fount.

See this article I wrote some time back, both on installing and using Fount. Very simple, unobtrusive and handy to use. It allows you to identify fonts on any website that *you* think look good and suit what you're looking for.

I hope that's helpful.

Regards, Andrew

Try Lato or Nunito from Google.

Both have similar qualities and look, are optimized for web, available for printing too, and are free.
