cannot see folders list on Dovecot IMAP server

This new CentOS server (Postfix 2.10 and Dovecot 2.2) has a handful of users who are connecting using IMAP. None of them can see any of the folders, neither "Inbox", "Sent", nor any of the other ones. Sending e-mail works fine, arrives at recipient's mailbox, but doesn't show in sender's mail client.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Gotcha!

Postfix delivers all e-mail to /var/mail by default.
Dovecot uses Maildir.
Tell Postfix to also use Maildir by adding  "home_mailbox = Maildir/"  to main.cf and all is fine ...

Alternative: use dovecot as mda.  (then the MTA delivers mail i one stream to the MDA and the MDA dispatches it to the right mailboxes.
