when my W10 Home computer boots it loads MS Access (most times)

Hi Folks
when my W10 Home computer boots it loads MS Access (most times). It doesn't open a database file; just loads Access.
There is nothing obvious in the system event log

How can I identify why and what is doing it?

thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The most common cause for something like this is that there will be a call for Microsoft Access in your Startup Group. To Disable;

Press Windows Key + R
Type Task Manager
Left-click the "Task Manager (Desktop app)" result

Task manager will open - if you don't see different tabs, click on "More Details" at the bottom left of Task Manager
tm1.pngClick the Startup Tab
tm2.pngThere you will get a list of everything that has been set to Start every time Windows 10 restarts. Look for an entry related to Microsoft Access and if found, Right-click and select "Disable" and stop it starting at every restart.

If your Startup Group does not have a Microsoft Access entry, also check your Task Scheduler

Press Windows Key + R
Type Task Scheduler
Left-click the "Task Scheduler (Desktop app)" result

Check your Task Scheduler library for any Microsoft Access related entries that may have been set to start on Boot and disable if found.

Hope that's helpful.

To get a complete list of all items that start automatically, download the MS freeware "autoruns" https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns - after starting it, search for msaccess.exe
