Power BI desktop and url connection to SSAS  cubes using the http msmdpump.dll. How to?

We have a url setup that gives a user access to our SSAS Cubes in Excel. That works fine no problem. (http://olap.mycubes.com)

But now we have a new user that needs to do the same thing in Power BI.

When I enter the URL in the prompt for server it gives me an "unsupported data format" error.

How do go about doing this for Power BI?

It seems like a gig. Let me know, if you need any help. I can do it for you, but it will cost you.

I appreciate the response but I'm just looking to do it myself. Shouldn't be that earth-shattering for me to do. I was looking for Premium Experts Exchange advice like I always get ...not completely outsource the task in its entirety to another developer.

The above link provides insight and coupled with your response I can conclude it is indeed possible which answers half my question. I'm just wondering what I'm missing and why I'm getting this immediate timeout error when I try to do it.

I'm using SQL 2014 Standard but also have access to SQL Server 2016 Enterprise if need be. Is that a factor?

Do I need to setup a power BI gateway to do it? I'm missing something.
