Need vcenter server with windows login not web client login

I want to install vcenter version 6 something but don't want the web client. I just want the windows vcenter login
I did an install but all it showed was the web client to login. Can I do the install without using the web client and if so what do I need to download?

Starting with VC 6.5, it is WebClient only

If you are on 6.0 or earlier, you can browse to https://VC_ADDRESS, there will be a link to download the vSphere Client

Alternatively, there are direct download links from VMware here:

Good luck

Also, the fat client for 6 will work with 6.5 although I would highly recommend learning the web client.  That's the direction from VMware.

6.0 is the last version of VMware vCenter Server, that can be used with the vSphere Client (supported!) (legacy c# client), which you can download and install on your PC, so you can avoid using the Web Client...

HOWEVER, be warned that VMware STOPPED adding functions to the vSphere Client, in 5.5, so there are some functions THAT CAN ONLY BE PERFORMED using the Web Client.

and you will have no choice but to use vSphere Web Client and vSphere Client for your administration!

Also the vSphere Client is no longer being developed or supported by VMware, and is no longer provided for 6.5.

So you may not like the Web Client, but VMware has given us some tough love now...

I'm afraid none of us like the decision, but hey that's life....

Latest VMware vSphere Client 6.0 Update 3 is here to download

So which option do I select because it is asking for like embedded platform controller and once the install is done, I don't see where I can use the old vcenter to access other than than web client. Am I doing something wrong?

Andrew,
Not sure if I am missing something else here but I got vctr 6 installed but each time I try to login in via the vsphere client, it keeps telling me bad user name or password. Now when I installed the vctr, I put in the domain name\ our admin account and paasword.
This information is free, because you really need to post a new question, if the following does not help you! As your original question has now been answered.

You need to follow the instructions to Add an Identity Source. e.g. your Active Directory.

Because the only username and password which will work by default if you do nothing is

1. Administrator@vsphere.local (if that's what you setup SSO for, and make sure you remember that password!)
2. Local Administrator on the Windows Server should also work.

BUT, AD Accounts will not work by default...

Oh, and to Add an Identity Source, means you need to use the Web Client...(so you cannot get anyway without using it!)
