Looking for first hand experience building custom laptops
I had this question after viewing What is the best budget gaming laptop in 2018?.
Do we have any members who have recently built custom laptops? Where they for gaming? I've always found it more cost effective to build a tower and don't really need to "game on the go". But now I'm curious if there are better options for building custom laptops as I know my son would strongly prefer a laptop.
My last build is about 6 years old and I'm currently diagnosing an issue with it that makes me want to rebuild. :)
Also curious if anyone has any experience with this company https://www.newegg.com/Eluktronics-Gaming-Laptops/BrandSubCat/ID-131280-3365

The concern I have over cloud gaming is I can't just run local games when my ISP is having issues, which unfortunately is not uncommon.
True, BUT many games require an internet connection anyways these days. Offline games are becoming rarer.
when my ISP is having issues
If my ISP has an issue, my house goes into full catastrophic meltdown. Every form of entertainment we consume is cloud based. PS4 is the only exception, but like Brandon said, still need Interwebs (at least for my favorite games).

Well perhaps that is for another thread, while I like the suggestion of cloud based, I still have games that run without a network connection. Also don't get me started on Charter or we may have to move this to the lounge. :P

It appears that there still aren't a lot of people custom building laptops for this purpose. Brandon's option for an external GPU or supporting desktop seems to be the best option for now.
