Note4 permits only 10 chars in a Contacts name; Note2 permits much longer

On my Note4 Android 6.0.1, I can only enter up to 10 characters in a Contacts' name: in my now broken Note2 (Android 4.x), I could enter a much longer name (possibly double).
Is there any Setting I have to turn on or any workaround for this?

Are you storing Contact to the same location on both [SD/Google/etc]?
sunhuxAuthor Commented:
I'm storing into the phone.

Correction, it's 16 chars limit max on the Note4 while I've seen 40 chars on the Note2.
The shop technician ported over the Contacts from the old Note2 to the Note4 and
I can see some Contacts reaching 40 chars long but when I enter a new Contact, max
is 16 chars only

On existing old entries that were ported over from Note2, I tested & could enter up to 100 chars
(or maybe more but did not go further)

What could be the reason that enables 100 chars or more to be ported over but only 16 chars to be entered in Contacts'  Name field?
