Windows Server 2012 -- hyperv vm, ip address when OFF ?

How can I find the ip address of my windows server 2012 hyperv vm when turned off since I want to make sure it is NOT a static IP I already have in use before I turn it on ?

I did the below, but do not see an IP address field ?
  1. open Physical Server
  2. open Hyper-V Manager
  3. right click on the VM that is OFF
  4. left click SETTINGS
  5. expand NETWORK ADAPTER

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It's a virtual computer.  Hyper-V doesn't have that answer. If you want to play it safe, disconnect the virtual switch from the VM and then boot it up.

I would implement IPAM https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/networking/technologies/ipam/ipam-top

I would use the notes field when you set a static ip and then shut it off so it doesnt happen anymore.

To be sure you don't interfere you could remove the NIC from the vm.  then re-add the nic, this *should* set it back to DHCP

if this is domain joined machine and if you know the machine hostname, search it within AD and try to ping it, DNS record will resolve to its IP
