Need to develop in Visual Basic 5

Is it possible to code in VB5 using modern Visual Studio?  I have a potential client that needs work done in VB5 (that's not a typo) and I'm trying to figure out what can be done to accommodate them.

Sorry but no, that's not possible. In the long run the best thing to do is to rewrite in a modern language.

in that time, the editor was also forcing the compiler. So the VB5 editor produces VB5 apps. VB6 editor produces ... VB6 apps. Only the VS.Net let you select the framework you want to target (but does not let you pick VB5).
Yes, in the long run, switch to VS.Net, but it's a steep learning curve.

If you still have the VB5 code and the VB5 developer product there is a fair chance that you can further develop your application and that it will still run under the latest OS.

If you only have the code, but not the VB5 software, you can try to get hold of VB6, which can compile VB5 code. It can be found in the usual places at prices between £6 and £200.

You should also download and apply the latest (last) service pack SP6. This is still available from Microsoft
