Hello -

We are in the process on implementing Sharepoint 2016 on prem. I’d like to know what are the user requirements as far as utilizing our Sharepoint? What are the AD best practice?

Thanks!

Extremely vague question. the "user requirements" for using Sharepoint depend on what you set the permissions for the different Site Collections to. You can allow all domain users to access or use permissions to control the level of access.

All users will need a AD account right? Kind of a stupid question I know...sorry. Do you know where I can find a good doc on this as well?

Yes. Although you theoretically I guess you could use it as an Internet site, I would never do that. Used to be an extremely expensive license to do it and Sharepoint is not optimized for that. For internal sites like an Intranet or team sites, you need AD accounts.
If you are not familiar with SharePoint, I would recommend you at least review some instructions on installation. It can be very tricky in areas to get it to work correctly. Shane Young has a series of videos in YouTube that are very good for getting a single server farm setup and running.
