How do I stop users copying and pasting their own entries into a column set up with data validation?

How do I stop users overwriting a validation list by copying and pasting their own entries into it - basically defeating the reason for the validation list in the first place...Presume it's to do with cell protection?

That linked article assumes that the entry being pasted in does not meet the Data Validation.

What if the user has several entries that are the same and the entry is valid for the Data Validation? Preventing copy and paste would stop the user from quickly entering valid answers.

Selecting cells and pressing Ctrl D to fill down from an invalid cell; this will delete the DV in the particular cell in the same way that Pasting does.
