IBM UniVerse viewer

does anyone know of any free tools to use to access and view data in old orphaned IBM universe databases, and the default extension for the actual database files associated with an IBM UniVerse database?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Use an ODBC driver, see this site for download links. EasySoft requires registration but it's unclear if use of its driver is free or not.

Also, here is a UniVerse admin starter guide which talks about the different file types spawning from the system and how to use them.

Is ibm universe a different dbms to ibm db2? i was thinking what we think may be a universe database could be a db2 database as not many suppliers (ibm) would have 2 dbms products.
