You should change path for BackupDirectory.
You can do it next way:

Change the backup location here (in System registry) - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQLServer

The key name is BackupDirectory - you can change it to any other folder.
You can change it via SQL Server Management Studio too. You can right click on server node and go to properties. Then choose “Database Settings” tab.

If you want to use T-SQL then here is the script.

EXEC xp_instance_regwrite N'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE',
N'BackupDirectory', REG_SZ, N'E:\InvalidPath'

Do not touch in the Registry.
What's missing is the read & write permissions on that share for each SQL Server service account.
Another option is not going for the FULL data synchronization so you can perform the backup & restore operations manually.

"Do not touch in the Registry."

yeah, I don't think I will as it is just an abnormal error from my point of view.

"What's missing is the read & write permissions on that share for each SQL Server service account."

yeah,  this is also what I thought about once I post that. and it is right ! now I can create the listener.

I should take advantage of the auto seed feature by SQL 2016, right? it seems it just bypass that option, right? but can be a good idea if it still doesn't works.
