Windows 10 1709 Creators Update

We got a HP System with Windows 10 in yesterday and it has been trying to install Windows 10 1709 Creators update and failing since December.  I checked for any malware and removed the free antivirus - stopped the update services, removed the SoftwareDistribution folder in Windows, rebooted - still would not install, so I tried the Windows 10 reset as I have done before - it removed a bunch of the programs (no data) and reset Windows 10 - all of the other updates installed fine after that - except for that 1709 - it keeps failing.  I have tried to manually download it and install it that way as well.  Every other time, the Windows 10 Reset has worked for me but not this time??

For whatever reason, I tried another reboot and it started to work and did the process.  However, it removed a large amount of programs including the persons Email program they used for business - he claims it was not Outlook 365 (has another business account under Outlook) -  it was the one he used from his ISP.  I have no idea what he was using before so I just setup under Mail program but claims none of his Sent messages are there anymore - also brought it up under ISP but dont see anything there....any chance they would still be on the system somewhere - almost impossible to answer since we dont know what program was being used before.
If you did the Repair Install outlined above, then the data should be in Windows.Old and you should be able to roll back to the prior system and applications.  Start, Settings, Update, Recovery
I did not see any old programs there but I think we are past that now.  The only thing remaining is that they have a Canon MX410 printer that he used to scan documents and Email them.  We had to reinstall the Canon software and trying to set it up so it can Scan to Email.  They are using Windows Live Mail now and trying to figure out the executable path for that so I can put it in the program, which I am suspecting is what it needs
Thank you for the update.
