I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

While I am not quite an expert on the subject to the best of my limited knowledge of SQL Developer you will actually have to write a query.

I don't particularly remember having an option of viewing data just as in SQL Server Management Studio -> Right click on Table -> Select top 1000 rows.

And it's been years since I used SQL Developer last. So please take it with teaspoon of salt.

You didn't provide the version you are using so I'll go with the latest:  17.4.

Single click on the table.  It defaults to Columns view.  There is a Data tab right next to it:
