CA server on a Windows 2012 R2 server in a domain

I have a CA server on a Windows 2012 R2 server in a domain when creating a certificate for a computer or web server what should the common name be? should it be just the server name or should it be the FQDN?

For example myserver or myserver.doman.com

My thoughts are either but would like a second opinion

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
