Screw sizes for APC SMT1500RM2U UPS lid

1. What are the screw sizes for an APC SMT1500RM2U Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) lid?

2. Where can I order these replacement screws from?

Someone else unscrewed the screws holding the lid cover on this UPS and didn't save them.

I would like to replace these screws but need to make sure I order or buy the right kind and size.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Pick the unit up and take it to the nearest real hardware store (Hardware Hank, Ace, True Value).  There will be bins and bins and bins of screws.  Try 6/32 to start with; this is common.  If it doesn't fit, then start trying metric sizes.

It will save some time searching if you look at what the screws / bolts are anchoring into.  If they anchor into steel of any significant thickness, then they are probably machine screws and not self-tappers.  If they anchor into plastic, they are probably self-tappers and not machine screws.  But fundamentally, anything that holds the back on should be good enough for this application as it's not something that is exposed and worked on every day.

Does anyone know what the exact screw types and sizes are?

This UPS weighs over 100 pounds and I don't want to have to take it to a hardware store.

Make whoever took the screws out and then threw them away lug it to the hardware store.  It will be a good lesson.
