I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Well ...

... out of 177 reviews on Amazon, the average is 2.9 out of 5.  Half the reviews are one star.  So there are problems, and it's not just a fluke that a few bad ones got through.  It wouldn't be something I'd want to have, no matter how cheap the supplies might be.

The price is only for the toner and yes it is cheap. The owner may have discarded the printer and is selling the ink cheap.

They are “compatibles” so not made by Xerox either. It’s no amazing bargain for what your buying.
The 7 Worst Nightmares of a Sysadmin

Fear not! To defend your business’ IT systems we’re going to shine a light on the seven most sinister terrors that haunt sysadmins. That way you can be sure there’s nothing in your stack waiting to go bump in the night.

They are 3rd party toners.

I also use 3rd party toners in my Fuji Xerox CM305DF (the same printer as the Xerox Workcentre 6505). I pay about AUD100 for a set of carrtidges - but they are rated at 3000 pages, not 2000/1400.

I don't know the 6022/6027, but I am very happy with both my printer and the cartridges, and have had only one minor problem (I am not saying the same will happen with yours). I found that, with very high tone coverage (e.g. dark photos), the toner only adheres properly if I tell the printer I'm using heavy paper or card. However, the printer will not duplex on anything but plain bond paper.

Over the years I have found that Xerox colour printers are usually excellent. They normally come with plenty of features. In your case networking and PCL/PostScript are standard. If this printer is to be used in an office, I would investigate the life and cost of other consumables like drum and fuser. For home use they are probably irrelevant, as you won't print enough to reach their end of life.

One last observation on Xerox brand refills...

They seem to be about a quarter of the cost of what I would expect from HP.

$15/color? I never saw toner so cheap.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
You need to compare Xerox New with HP New.  What you saw could be third party (as noted earlier) or surplus to needs.
