Hi Maria,
Being an homework, I would prefer to point you how to solve this, instead of giving you the solution.
Give a look on the MONTH and YEAR functions.
To get the total of a field, use the SUM function but you'll need to GROUP BY other fields to obtain the desired values.

Give it a try and return if you have doubts.

If I understand question, author would like one list of sub directories and another list of all files from base (selected directory).
