Cant RDP into Azure VM

Hi, I am having problems remoting in to a machine I have failed over into azure using site recovery services.

The machine boots, I have given it a remote IP. But it wont RDP.

I have booted another machine up in the same subnet and using command prompt I create a new PS-Session then imported it. Ran all the powershell commands I could think of and they all completed without issue. However I still cant RDP in.

I can browse to it using \\ipaddress\c$ and see all the files etc.

Having some real issues trying to get into this and its pretty time sensitive.

Any help is really appreciated.

Never mind I sorted it- I have to use Enter-PS instead of import.

You need to check a couple of things.

1. The default port is 3389, check by running:
Get-ItemProperty "HKLM:\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\" -NAME PORTNUMBER | select -ExpandProperty Portnumber

2. Open windows firewall port on VM
Windows Firewall/Advanced settings and open port TCP 3389

3. Check the NSG (Network Security Group) that should be with your VM, and create an input rule for TCP 3389.

if you want to change it for security reasons I have a script for that:
https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Change-Default-RDP-Port-84a27276

Just make sure to change the port in the windows firewall rule (2) and in the NSG (3).
