Can I reuse an AD name from a DC that had to have it's OS reinstalled? The DC failed and it's name is still in AD. Is it safe to reuse it and then not have to do a Meta Cleanup. Od should I start from scratch?

I'll do the meta clean up and then see how it goes.
it will give you error while dc promotion as it will find server hostname advance in ad configuration as dc
hence 1st do metadata cleanup and then promote with same name if wanted, else different hostname is always an option
