Hello,
If you are in Raid 1, you can make the hot change, and the reconstruction of the disk can be monitored by the tool of your provider.
In the same way, take a backup of everything before making the disc change, in case you are nervous that something could happen.
You have several suggestions and tips that will help you solve the problem.
We remain attentive to your comments.

If one takes the age of the computer and the type of RAID controller into account, having RAID 1 doesn't equate to "hot swap".
Just a caution as it will matter to YOU in terms of the process needed to be followed.
But, if hot swap is OK in your system then great!

Hi,
We had 5 vm's on that box, after considering we decide to get good backups and and perform the hot swap after hours. The rebuild was successful. Thank all for the directions.

Thanks all, appreciate the guidance and the detailed considerations to take into account before proceeding.
If you can't hot swap then you have to bring the machine down in order to replace the failing drive.
Also, in older systems it was necessary to match the drive model when doing a replacement.
If hot swap isn't possible, once the new drive is in place, some systems require that you make the new drive ready during boot time. So, you have to be there on site to accomplish that if it's necessary.
Otherwise, you've received good advice and pointers already. The RAID array should rebuild itself once the system is up and running after the replacement and disk integration into the array.
