scanning barcode directly into a Windows RT tablet.

I have a client with Windows RT tablets and they keep losing the attached barcode scanners.  Is there a way to scan barcodes directly onto the tablet with out a separate scanner device?

they have used both types of external scanners now they want to be able to scan without an external device.  Somethng like we do with our phones to scan for pricing.

You want to leverage the camera. Have you done any research prior to asking this question?
I just went to the App store and typed barcode scanner.

Yes,  yo_bee I did research this and actually saw your link in the App store myself, however if you read my question we have Windows RT tablets.  There is nothing noted in the description that it will work with the RT version.  When I searched for Windows RT nothing came up.

would it hurt to try it?

I am going to suggest that to the client.  They are really, really busy all the time and wanted to come in with a solution rather than experiment however you are correct other than time we have nothing to lose. Thanks yo_bee.

The amount of time that probably is being wasted with their current setup I guess justifies you coming with a solution.  So when a server has an issue they want validation fix to the issue or do not try some things first. I figure that the test will take about 1 hrs at the most.  They need to give you this time to validate.

Here are some applications including some OpenSource ones. The issue would be that the application that needs the code would have to keep focus.
