"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

When you update AD Connect, it prompts for a password with Forest Root Credentials that's a member of i think both enterprise and schema admin. also the you have to have credentials in azure AD (o365) that's global admin.

What is relation of azure ad connect with adfs, nothing
U might have deployed adfs with the help of azure ad connect, u can simply uninstall azure ad connect and reinstall with custom options again
OR make sure that u can reach to adfs from azure ad connect and then try again
