Hard drive external enclosure maximum size problem
I have a problem. Bought new hard drive external enclosure for disk which is 4tb size. Disk works normaly when connect inside pc. When I use it with an enclosure, it is not accesible, win10 only gives option to format it and gives me error "the volume does not contain a recognized file sytem..." What I found out while surfing the web that most enclosures have size limit with 2tb. Is that true or is there any other problem that I missed while searching for resolution? When checking the documentation that came with enclosure there is nowhere to find about disk size limit. So how do I find an adapter that will work with 4tb disk or is there any other solution?
Thank you for all the answers..

I have experienced this with some flashdrive also. it usually happen when os do not support that version of usb. if you able to find the driver for the enclosure as per os it should would work for you.
Well if the enclosure doesn't permit it you can't do much with this...maybe you should consider spending some more money and buying a NAS enclosure that has complete documentation on which drives it supports and with what limit..
Do remember that a NAS will give you full data freedom as it could be accessible from all of your devices and it has more features than a simple enclosure...

Well NAS is not a solution I need just enclosure so its more "movable".
I have tried with drivers and still no solution. This is how it looks like.

How poor, USB3 and yet no 48 bit LBA support so limited to 2.2TB
i suppose your windows10 is 64 bit?
Looks like this enclosure is outdated because all modern enclosures do support the drives over 2.2TB. Return the enclosure and buy a new one. BTW, what is the model of your enclosure? I am using a Sharkoon called enclosure and it works ok with big drives.
i think your enclosure should work with big size drives, since it's USB3
