"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What error do you get? Is there a firewall issue blocking access?

Usual things to check:

1. Is Remote Desktop enabled? (Check Server Manager)
2. Are you able to ping the server from the device you are trying to use to RDP to it? What OS is this device running, is NLA required?
3. Is the user account you are attempting to use have Remote Desktop rights on this machine?
4. Are Firewalls setup properly to allow RDP access on port 3389?

What actually happens when you try to RDP to it? More information is needed to assist.
