why did i receive same email from a user at 4 different times

why would i have received the same email 4 times from a internal user?
user says they only sent it once however i received the same mail at 4 different times
using 365 hybrid

I would check the Message Tracking logs to determine he didn't send it 4 times.

Get-ClientAccessServer | Get-MessageTrackingLog -sender "<emailaddress>" -Start "<date>" | Select TimeStamp, ServerHostname, ConnectorID, Sender, {$_.Recipients}, MessageSubject,{$_.RecipientStatus}

I've seen this happen when the sending user is on a bad connection - if your mailboxes are on different servers, it could have tried to send the message multiple times until it finally went through.  Especially if this had an attachment, even a logo graphic...

Are the message Ids of the emails same or different ?
