Does a 4th gen core i7-4910mq has the upperhand over 8th Intel® Core™ i7-8550U

i'm looking to buy a "new" laptop

i want to use it for photoshop (files up to 60MB)
occasional video editing (10min files maximum) 1920x1080 resolution is OK for final results.

since prices of new laptops with high end cpu start over 2.000€ i was looking to buy second hand market.

i found some HP Zbooks for 600€ that have core i7-4910mq processor + dedicated graphics Nvidia Quadro K2100M

new laptops have either Xeon, or core i7-8550u but have high prices

Here is a CPU comparions
https://ark.intel.com/compare/78939,122589

My question is simple, is it really worth it to ga "all in" and purchase state of the art tech, or will a 2015 model still suffice for several years to come ?

Intel makes their newer CPUs to work faster overall. If you wish to keep your costs down (main driver here), use the earlier CPU. That is what I would do in this situation.

Yes Shaun,

but in the benchmark comparison:
besides the power consumption difference, i only see difference in number of samples.
but have no idea this has an influences, neither with the GHZ, since i base my reasoning on the big red number  :-)

if i disable the cpu graphics, and will use the quadro i think will have the best bang for buck, correct ?
You don't want to disable the GPU graphics
since i base my reasoning on the big red number  :-)
So is mine :)
