Fie conversion in Google-Drive from Google-Drive version to Microsoft Excel format

I have a user that uses Google-Drive. He creates a file on his local hard drive that is in Microsoft version of Excel. He saves the file and it syncs to his Google-Drive. When he opens the file in Google-Drive it opens in their Excel format or version. I have downloaded the office plug in like it says if you wish to open it in MS Excel. If you right click the Google-Drive file and try to select MS office Excel there is no icon or format version there to open. Even if you look for more apps? I have called the google-drive support and she says sorry, hat is G-Suite question? I have no idea who G-Suite is and they are not working on weekends. Can someone please end this nightmare for me?

I use Google Drive and I think you need to look at sharing folders. That works for me at work and at home with friends., providing both have Excel installed

is this in the Google-Drive? He has 2 laptops and both have Google-Drive. This is where he feels he has to go to see the file? Not sure why he does just not open the file on his local drive where it was created? So where on his local version of MS Excel where he creates this should I refer or look at sharing. I am just not a Excel user at all so treat me as a very uneducated Excel user. Thanks I really hate Excel as I never use it. Thank the stars we have those who do so I can get help.
