Google Suite via Outlook for Mac 2016

One of my clients is moving over to Goole Suite.

A couple of the staff use Macs. Is it possible for them to sync their calendars and contacts with Google Suite using Outlook for Mac 2016 as the front end?

For Windows Outlook Google have a syncing tool. Is there a Mac equivalent or if not what is the workaround?

Many thanks.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. You don't need Outlook as a synchronization hub. You can sync your Google Calendar and Contact directly with the "Internet Accounts" options in System Preferences. Once input your Gmail or the email associated with your Google Suite, the system will prompt you options to sync Calendars and Contacts.

So it works very differently on a Mac than Windows? I don't need to download any software just take the options you indicate?

OSX has built-in support for Google Contacts and Calendars and GMail in its own native apps .. you simply add the Google accounts in the System Preferences and sync happens automatically.

There is some support in Outlook on OSX also for synchronisation with Google apps but on OSX it isn't necessary.

Both Windows and macOS have built in support for Google Contact and Calendars. You don’t need to download anything, just add the account in System Preferences on your Mac.

NO - apparently you can't sync Google Suite with Outlook for Mac period. There are two programs under development, CardDav and CalDav, that effect the contacts and calendars respectively that will address this problem. Does anyone know of how to get hold of these or any other workaround. Many thanks.

Actually, you are able to sync Google Contacts and Calendars on Outlook 2016 for Mac.

If that's not working, try syncing the Google contacts and calendars to the Mac via the built-in Internet Account. Enable iCloud on the Mac so that your Google contents are uploaded onto iCloud. On the Outlook side, enable iCloud calendar with Apple ID. You should be able to see your Google contents after that. iCloud Calendar and Contact won't Outlook for Mac so you'll need to use a Windows to complete the process.
